T.L.C. Tips

Like other things you value in life, your new flooring requires “Tender Loving Care” to keep it bright and happy. 

Please consider the following floor care tips or contact us with any questions.  We want your new floor to remain beautiful and functional as much as you do.

• Sand and water are your worst enemies – place rugs inside of outdoor entrances, in front of the kitchen sink, kitchen working stations and the dishwasher to protect floor from water or oily detergents.

• Stop!  Before you sit in that office chair, check the rollers…rollers are different for carpet and can make marks in your new wooden floor.  An easy change to hardwood floor rollers will save you the hardship of marked flooring

• Abrasive dusts (and sand) are other enemies – sweep or vacuum regularly to prevent accumulation and scratching

• Refrigerator rolling is OUT!  Don’t do it.

• Damaged or worn high heels are second only to water as your floor’s worst enemy.

• Direct sunlight or intense artificial lighting is BAD!  Over time, the wood will discolor.  The lighter the color of the natural wood, the more apparent this natural phenomenon.  Rug placement will leave a fade line.  Window treatments are recommended.

• Wax, oil-based detergent or other household cleaners, NO, NO, NO!  They may dull or damage the finish, leaving a greasy film and make the floor slippery and more difficult to clean.  Recommend Woodwise floor cleaner which is specifically formulated for today’s no-wax floors.  (click here for link to accessories on line).
